Lil pumpkins...

Some precious little pumpkins!!

My doctor's appointment Wednesday was good. Everything is great. I do not have gestational diabetes. Yay! My sugar was 106 and normal is between 75-140 so I'm good. Got to hear little guy's heartbeat. It was nice and strong - 133. We could also hear him moving all around. Other than that it was pretty uneventful.
I had to take Cooper to the vet yesterday. He jumped off (well pretty much right over) the couch Tuesday night and hit a table with his back leg. Since then he hasn't been putting any weight on that leg and after 2 days I decided we needed to see what was wrong because it wasn't getting better. Well, they examined him and did an xray. Nothing is broken but they think he might have torn his ACL. There is also some irritation in his knee. So they gave me some medicine and told me to keep him on light activity for 4 weeks. Hopefully it will just heal on its own. If he still isn't using it after 4 weeks then he may have to have surgery. I'm praying he gets better. Seeing him hobble around on 3 legs is the saddest thing!! Breaks my heart!
Hope you all have a great weekend and a Happy Halloween!!

Spray painting 101

So, you guys know we just recently re-did the chest for the nursery, right?! Well, funny thing happened during that process. Funny is not the correct work because this little situation had a certain grown man freaking out!
Long story short - one of the spray paint cans became clogged so Keith went out to our side yard (which is right next to our drive way) and stuck a needle in the nozzle trying to unclog it. Well about the time the needle was inserted and paint started spraying out along came a big gust of wind. Which resulted in the below:

White spray paint all over Keith's black truck! It was bad!! It looked like a speckled Easter egg!
What else is bad is that we didn't even notice it! Keith finally noticed it later that night when he ran to the gas station. He was parked under those really bright lights and that is when he saw it. I thought he might cry. Keith takes really good care of his truck (of all of our stuff actually) and this had him sick.
So, by this point the paint had been on there close to 8 hours. So Sunday morning we tried everything to get it off. And we found some stuff that would take the white paint off (mineral spirits, gas, fingernail polish remover, etc.) the only problem was all of this stuff was taking off the black paint too! And since we were really having to put some elbow grease into it you could see the rub marks! So needless to say that wasn't going to work. So we came up with plan B and plan C!
Plan B was to find someone that might could remove the spray paint without doing any further damage!
Plan C was to file a claim with our insurance to have the whole truck repainted!
Plan B worked! There is a local Lexus dealership that said they could fix it! They "wet sanded" it. I'm not really sure what this means but they were able to get rid of the spray paint along with most of the other scratches that were on the truck too!
Now, it looks all nice and shiny!
Much better! And it only set us back about $200. But it kept my husband from losing his mind! So it was money well spent!

So, the lesson we learned is that we will never spray paint next to anything of value! The rest of our spray painting will take place in a nice big open space!

bigger is better

Sometimes it is the simplest things that can make you these flowers that Eddie grew in our front yard. Did I mention he has a green thumb too?
I figured out how to make my pictures bigger -- finally. I hate how small they are! I just followed the steps that I found here. But first you need to do step 1 from here. Here is another blog that tells you how to make pictures bigger -- this might be the easiest way. Much better, don't you think! It involves a little more work but I think it is worth it! Or are they too big? Keith has informed me that he thinks they are a little too big. What do you guys think?

Hope you all have a great weekend!

For the nursery...

So here are some pictures of the chest we re-did for the nursery.

I think a couple of us (maybe me and my brother) used this when we were little. I love it but it was the wrong color. All of our nursery furniture is antique white. Below is what it looked like before. You can click on the pictures to make them bigger.
After we took it apart and sanded it down. And by we I really mean Keith...he did 95% of all the work!
Ready to prime.

In the process of priming. Keith was sweet enough to take lots of pictures during the process...he knew I would want to share it with you guys!
All primed.

Painted antique white. We took a piece from the crib and had Lowe's match the paint. They did an awesome job! It matches so good. All of our furniture came from different places but it all is the same color and matches really good!

We decided to line the drawers with fabric - just to give it a little something extra.

We went with some yellow striped material. Basically I just measured the drawers, cut the material and used spray adhesive to put it in.
All the drawers lined.

I couldn't find any hardware that I loved so I decided to make it myself. I knew I wanted something sweet and something that felt like it belonged in a nursery. So we found some pretty simple silver hardware at Lowes and spray painted it to match the color of the chest and then I painted it.
I used blue, green and yellow (the colors the nursery will be) and painted some with stripes and some with polka dots. Then on the knob for the drawer I did an "S" for his name.
All done -- I'm so happy with how it turned out. I love it!!! Keith did an awesome job and I can't wait to put this in his room and start filling it up!

So, tell me what you think?
