Thursday, December 30, 2010's a wrap.

And I'm having mixed feelings.  I'm not going to lie...I'm feeling a little sad that this year is coming to a close.  New Year's marks the last of Saw's "first" holidays.  It is so hard to believe that turning "one" is right around the corner.

2010 has been the best year of my life.  It was a year full of challenges, learning curves and constant worrying and doubting as I learned how to be a mommy and take care of a tiny little child.  But it was also a year where I experienced overwhelming joy and found myself loving someone so much that it actually hurts.  As a family we found our rhythm of working, playing, laughing, learning, growing, loving and living.

But I have a hunch that 2011 will be full of the same.  And I am looking forward to all that next year will hold and I do know it will be just as good...because as I'm learning now...everyday just gets sweeter and sweeter.

PS - I also thought it was time to make some changes to the blog...a fresh start for a brand new year!

Christmas 2010 Recap...part 2

Here are the rest of the pictures.
These start with Christmas morning.  We opened gifts that morning at my Mom and Bob's and then we had brunch.  We headed to my sisters that afternoon to do Christmas with my Dad's side of the family.

Sawyer's very 1st Christmas was a white Alabama!  So special!

I'm sad it's over.  But looking back through all the pictures made me realize again how great it was.  It's funny how sometimes you tend to remember the things that went wrong or didn't go to plan.  But looking at all my pictures all I see is smiles...big ones.  And lots of laughter and love and silly faces.  And that's what I am going to remember!

Christmas 2010 Recap...part 1

Here are the numbers:
8 days at home
a total of 22 hours in the car - touched 6 different states
attended 7 different get togethers and visited with lots of people I love!
stayed at 3 different houses and also gained 3 lbs. (nice!)
celebrated 2 birthdays (sister and Jesus)
opened too many presents to count
and took 527 pictures.

Here are just a few!

It was exhausting.  It was a whirlwind.  But it was SO, SO worth it!
To say we are blessed just doesn't seem adequate.

Stay tuned for the rest of the pictures...

Merry Christmas

Our Christmas season has been wonderful....simply wonderful. All the moments spent keeping Saw from pulling down the tree, from breaking any(more) ornaments, and fishing wrapping paper out of his mouth... Honestly, it's been great! Because as exhausting as the above moments can be we've also experienced seeing his entire face light up when we turn on all our Christmas lights (every single time), we've watched him play illuminated by only the Christmas tree, and we've seen him belly laugh as we lift him up to ring the jingle bell mistletoe and then be smothered in kisses. And I've tried really hard to soak it all up. Because I know that next year will be different. He won't be 10 months old and it won't be his first Christmas. And while I'm hopeful it will be just as good, it's hard to imagine it being any better than it is now.

This child is good for my soul.
Last year, I was dreaming of this. And now, I'm living this.

Merry Christmas!

Happy Birthday Sister!

I'm lucky. I've had the same best friend since the moment I was born. I'm not sure many people can say that! If you know me or if you've read this blog for any length of time then you also know my sister. And you know how close we are.

She's more than just my sister. And really, she's more than just my best friend. She's also my pediatrician, fellow mom advice giver, reviewer of baby products, giver of hand me downs, personal advice giver, fashion advisor, sewing/crafting teacher, confidante and much, much more. We just get each other!
We talk 3 or 4 times a day. No lie...non stop. And text non stop. She does the best job at making me feel like I live right down the street and not 600 miles away. I thought I would share some recent pictures/conversatations we've had. Surely, she won't mind.

She sent me this picture as a suggestion for something Saw would like. Santa got the message and I'm sure Saw will be thanking her in a couple of weeks.
I got this message to show me what little sweet Henley was up to. She thought it would be funny to dump the bathroom trash can into the toilet. I'm pretty sure Shan didn't think it was funny. Henley is um...challenging. Pray for Shannon. =)
Got this picture after Shan had a battle with the straightener...I think the straightener won.
But, these are my favorite kind of pictures. Getting to see these two sweet girls pop up on my phone totally makes my day!
So, Happy Birthday Sister! I love you much more than I am able to convey on this here little blog. And I'm so glad I actually get to see you and spend time with you on your birthday!
