Monday Miscellaneous

This little cutie is sick.
And the last few nights have been rough. I think we got a combined 3 hours of sleep last night and that was because I propped myself up and just held him. Keith is taking him to the Dr. this morning. Thank the Lord because my little guy is pitiful and it is breaking my heart. I'm hoping he'll get some good medicine so he can knock this little cold out.

Amanda sent me a birthday present last week and she also sent Saw these adorable onesies. They are so stinking cute - I love them.

We didn't do much this weekend. But it was still nice. I'm really looking forward to the 3 day weekend coming up. And of course, for the kickoff of college football!

It will be different this year since we are now in the middle of Big 12 Nation. I miss all my Auburn (& SEC) fans! But on the plus side, I don't have to listen to any Bama talk.

We had shrimp & grits for dinner last night. It was delish!
Well, I'm off to refill my coffee cup. I'm trying to get some things done so I can leave at lunch and go take care of my baby.

Ready for some football....

Auburn Football, that is! Not much longer...

The Versatile Blogger Award

Jess awarded me with "The Versatile Blogger". Thanks Jess! And of course I'm going to play along - which includes sharing 7 random facts about myself with you guys and then sending the award on to some of my favorite bloggers.
Here are some pretty random facts about me:

1. I can't remember the last time I blow dried my hair. I'm very fortunate that my hair dries super straight and it's just been so hot that I haven't done it. I'm sure I'll start back once it turns cool.

2. I HAVE to put on chapstick every night before I go to sleep. It stays on the nightstand.

3. Keith & I {and Saw} have lottery "numbers". These include our birthdays, fav numbers, etc. and Keith buys us a ticket every weekend. Even though we know we have a better chance at getting struck by lightening, twice, than winning.

4. I've never colored my hair. I also haven't had a haircut since Feb. - yikes!

5. I'm a great secret keeper. I love secrets .

6. We have 14,700 pictures on our computer. That is A LOT.

7. I hit the snooze button at least 3 or 4 times every morning.

I'm "awarding" the following people and I hope they play along.

A day in the life at 6 months old...

4:45am - He's awake (for the third time since we put him down at 8:30pm) ...Daddy goes to get him. His diaper leaked so he gets a wardrobe change and comes down to our bed.

6:30am - He's awake again...he's in between us jabbering, dozing and entertaining himself and we are trying to catch any zzz's we can.

8:00am- I finally drag myself out of bed since it's obvious he isn't going back to sleep.

9:00am - hanging on the couch with mommy...I'm a slobber box!
10:00am - I just laid him down for a nap...as you can see, he's still awake.
11:00am- I'm awake. That was a nice45 minute nap!
12:00pm - ready for lunch...oatmeal today.
1:00pm - hanging out in the bumbo watching mommy eat lunch.
2:00pm - I don't have a picture. Saw went down for his second nap and I decided to take one too so we slept right through 2:00pm.

3:00pm - family playtime.
4:00pm - swinging...
5:00pm - in the jumperoo...
6:00pm - dinner...carrots.
7:00pm - just playing and snuggling.
8:00pm - bathed, in his jams and sleepy. All that is left is to get a full tummy and a little rocking/singing and then it's off to dreamland.

It was a good day!

You've got mail.

I think I've mentioned it before but I love mail. There is nothing like opening your mailbox to find a little surprise ~ always brightens my day. It doesn't matter if it's a card, invitation, package...I love them all! But this week I've gotten some great mail!

I got a package from my aunt and momo.
Several adorable outfits for Sawyer. My momo actually made the outfit on the left for my uncle when he was a baby. So cute and I can't wait to put them on Sawyer. As much as I love the outfits for Saw...this was by far the best part of the package. My aunt Jane got me this as a birthday gift. She always picks out the best gifts and this one is no exception.
I think we are all familiar with the pioneer woman ~ unless you've been living under a rock. Well, her cookbook is awesome. She's like superwoman! She cooks, takes awesome pictures, runs a ranch, has 4 kids, etc, etc.

It has tons of great pictures that she took.

And lots of little stories.
And the recipes all look so delicious. And she gives step by step pictures. Now, that's my kind of cooking! We are going to try a couple out this weekend -- I'm thinking the chicken fried steak.
And we also got another package this week from the Bolands. A super cute outfit for Saw and a Baby Einstein light up thing for the car. Not really sure what it's called but I've been wanting something for Saw to look at while in the car. This one lights up and plays music.
Some good stuff! And we appreciate it all so much! Thanks guys!

Saw had his 6 month check up on Tuesday. We have a very healthy boy and I thank God everyday for him!

Daddy was able to come with us and we were super excited!

All smiles before his shots! Bless his little heart! Here are his stats:

Weight - 19 lbs, 73rd percentile

Height - 26.5 inches, 43rd percentile

Head Circumference - 17.5, 70% percentile

He is happy and healthy and life is good!

Summer watermelon.

We headed out to the front yard this past weekend to have a little photo shoot with a watermelon. And in the spirit of keeping it real, it didn't go quite as planned.

I mean, my boy couldn't be more adorable. But yes, that watermelon is orange! Who even knew there was such a thing - but there is...it isn't your computer screen playing tricks on you!

And I had visions of mostly photographing the top of his head because he would be so engrossed with the watermelon. Wrong again. He didn't care about it one.bit. He was way more interested in looking at the trees and the grass. Which actually worked out okay, considering I was a nervous wreck thinking about him getting his mouth on the watermelon and that it would hurt his unexposed tummy...or even worse, he would somehow manage to choke on a watermelon seed. Well, all the worrying was pointless. Isn't that usually how it goes anyway.

Regardless, I still got some pretty darn cute pictures!

catching up...

We had the best time with my mom on her visit. Thought I would catch you guys up on what we've been doing.

Of course, our days have revolved around playing with this cutie pie.
This was after a nap one day and his hair was crazy!
We spent lots of nights in the sewing room. And Santa decided to come early and I got a new embroidery/sewing machine. It is awesome and I'm so excited about it!

It is so nice and I'm so excited about all I can do and make with it!
My mom caught these next 3 pictures last Friday afternoon.

Pretty funny, right?! Obviously we were all in need of a nap. And I'm sure Cooper was napping too -- probably under a bed somewhere!

Sawyer tried carrots for the first time.
And he loved them!
He also has his first tooth. It finally broke through last Friday but the couple of nights before that were rough. I can only imagine how it must hurt. Bless him! As soon as I can get a good picture I'll share it. But it is just barely peeking through now but I can feel it and it is sharp.

We took some pictures before heading out to eat Mexican. Our 3rd time in 2 weeks!
A couple of my favorite people!

We made some improvements to the sewing room by hanging some shelves (thanks Keith).
I had way too much stuff on the desk.
My mom made a curtain for Saw's room. She is so talented and whipped this out like it was nothing. I love it. The room finally feels complete.
I took advantage of her sewing knowledge and learned how to do a few things, including making a little outfit for Sawyer. It was really easy -- or maybe it seemed easy because she was here to help me. Either way, I'm pretty proud. It was my first go at button holes and snap tape.
And this is how we felt about her leaving! Sad! =(
As much as I hated saying goodbye, I am really thankful for the time we were able to spend with her. It was such a blessing having her. It was good for my soul!
