An afternoon treat

We went for some frozen yogurt recently and it was a toss up who enjoyed it or Sawyer.

It was so good and I think will be calling my name all summer to help me beat the heat with the big belly I'm sure to be sporting!

22 weeks

How far along? 22 weeks - my weeks change on Saturday.
Total weight gain/loss: 13 lbs.
Stretch marks? still none
Sleep: still pretty good...getting up once to pee.
Best moment this week: Hearing his precious heartbeat at my last appt.  Good and strong - 145 bpm
Movement: Yes, I can feel him getting stronger but the movements are still light.  I don't feel like I feel him moving yet like I did Sawyer.  I don't know if it's because he's positioned different or I'm so busy this time that I'm not just sitting around focusing on the movements.  And I know it's still a little early.
Food cravings: nothing really
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: no
Belly Button in or out? not out yet
What I miss: my husband this week.
What I am looking forward to: The crib/mattress we ordered (thanks Dad and Kathy) coming in.  The new crib will actually be Sawyer's.  We are moving all of Sawyer's furniture into the nursery.  I want to use the same nursery furniture for all my babies.
Weekly Wisdom: I don't like this one because I never have any weekly wisdom...
Milestones: I am wearing my first pair of maternity pants today.

Easter 2011

We had a great weekend celebrating Easter.  Sawyer is still too young to really participate in all the activities but he is at a really fun age where everything is so new and exciting.  I am so in love with that little boy ~ sometimes I think my heart could explode.

Anyway, back to Easter.

We dyed eggs Saturday afternoon.

I did most of the dying but Saw loved watching and holding the eggs before they were dipped and after they dried.  But only for a second because he kept wanting to throw them.  I see many broken eggs in our future.

Saturday night we prepared our resurrection buns and we enjoyed them for breakfast Sunday morning before watching church.

My little helper.

But he mostly wanted to just eat the marshmallows.

Nothing like a little sugar right before bed...

The Easter bunny came.

We actually had terrible weather all weekend so we didn't get to spend anytime outside.  But we still had a great time being together and celebrating.

Family picture taken with the timer -- this only took about 361 attempts to get this halfway decent picture.

My two favs!

We watched church and then went out and enjoyed a great lunch.  Then Sawyer and I dropped Keith off at the airport.  He is out of town all week and doesn't get back until Saturday morning.  We are already missing him!  But I am looking forward to lots of one on one time with my little buddy!

Good Friday!

We are in the Easter spirit and we've been celebrating for a week or so.

Last weekend we ventured out to see the Easter bunny.  It didn't go so well.  But I would imagine that a big white bunny could be scary to a little guy.

So, we re-grouped and took a family photo.  Apparently the bunny wasn't ready.

We've also been doing our resurrection eggs.  Today is day 10.  You do it for 12 days, finishing on Easter Sunday.  This is a great way to share the Easter story with children.  Every egg holds something that represents part of the Easter story.  You can see inside some of the eggs below ~ there are coins, a cross, a spear, a crown of thorns and a rock.  Something different in every egg.  And the egg you open on Easter Sunday is empty to represent the empty tomb.  You read a bible verse when you open the egg and it all tells the story of Easter.

Saw loves playing with the eggs.  We sit down everynight and read it as a family.

In my opinion there isn't another holiday with more meaning.  So, it is important to me to be intentional about teaching Sawyer why we celebrate.

We also made some goodies for Saw's teachers.  I got the idea from my sister who made these as Valentine's - she got the idea from here.  Don't you just love the internet?!  It's so full of ideas!

And Saw has been loving playing with all the plastic eggs!

And hiding them under the couch.

We are looking forward to really celebrating this weekend.  We are planning to dye eggs, make resurrection buns, hunt eggs, and celebrate a God that loves us so much that he sent his only son to die for us.  Can you imagine?  I can't.  But I'm so thankful for His sacrifice, His mercies, His grace and this life that He has blessed me with!

Why I blog...

Well, there are several reasons why I blog...a few of them include:
I love taking pictures and I love sharing them.
It holds me accountable for taking pictures of everything we do and documenting our lives.
It helps close the 600 mile gap between us and our families.

But the biggest reason I blog is for me!  I love being able to look back on all the precious memories that we've created.  And one day I really hope my kids will like looking back and seeing what our lives were like when they were first born, recalling all the fun we had, and laughing at how ridiculous Mom and Dad look.  (I'm pretty sure I need to have a daughter eventually because I'm fairly certain boys don't care about stuff like this.)  But again, ultimately it's for me.

I started blogging in March of 2009.  I can't believe it's been 2 years!  And I totally missed my bloggy birthday.  But I've made a book every year and the one from 2010 is awesome!  This year I used Blurb and I couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome.  It took a good bit of time but it was totally worth it (why I didn't finish editing until March - I just worked on it a little at a time).  I chose to go through every post and pick the layout I wanted for the pictures.  You don't have to do it this way.  Once you upload it, Blurb will lay it out for you and you can just go with that if you want.  But I wanted to make sure it was exactly like I wanted.  It ended up being 322 pages but only cost me around $80.

Even Keith commented on how great it turned out!
See for yourself...

This is the front cover.  I decided this sweet face pretty much summed up 2010 for us.

The back cover.  Our family at the end of 2010.

I love it.  This book is all the motivation I need to blog.  It is so worth all the time put in uploading pictures, typing, etc.  to have these books full of memories for my family!
