Memorial Day Weekend Recap

We had a great long weekend!  It was so nice to stay home and relax for a couple of days.  We mostly just hung out, did some crafts/worked on some projects, and ate a whole lot (I took pictures of most our meals because we literally ate all weekend long)!

We made a summer list Friday afternoon.  I was inspired here.  I thought it would be a fun way to be intentional about doing fun stuff this summer.  I'm looking forward to everything on the list.

Our weekend of food started off Friday night with grilled wings and homemade fries.

And Saturday morning it was biscuits and gravy.

Saw got this workbench from Santa but we just got it out this weekend.  He loves it and spent a lot of time playing at it.

For lunch we enjoyed turkey and avocado subs.

Saturday Keith smoked a boston butt - one of his many grilled specialities.

Sawyer has recently learned to give kisses.  Open mouthed, slobbery kisses.  It IS the sweetest thing ever.   I mean melts my heart!

Shrimp and grits Sunday night.

And popsicles for dessert.  Saw's first and he loved it.

Big breakfast Monday morning.

Sawyer loves going down the slide.  And every time we go outside he heads straight for it.

And we finished with ribs, corn on the cob and onion rings.

Are you hungry yet?  I swear I gained 5 lbs. this weekend.  But it was all delicious.
And we had a great time just hanging out and relaxing!

I'm an aunt, again!

I'm a little late in posting this but someone special was born almost 2 weeks ago.
Our nephew, Cason Marshall, was born on 5/18 at 4:03pm.  He weighed in at 9 lbs and 1 oz and was 21 inches long.
Isn't he beautiful?!  That hair...sigh!

I'm dying to get my hands on him.  And thankfully I'll get to in a couple of weeks when we make a trip home.

And I also can't wait to see this guy.  Cason's big brother who is turning 5!  I seriously can't believe he is already 5.  Why do babies have to grow up?!

Some good looking nephews I have!

26 weeks

Picture taken at night with flash and self timer ~ so...not the best but you can see the bump so it'll do.

How far along? 26 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I gained 4 lbs. last month - so total is 17 lbs at this point.
Stretch marks? still none - I'm lubing up pretty good.
Sleep: okay...not great but I can't really complain.
Best moment this week: playing in the water park on our trip
Movement: Yes.  And they are feeling more controlled and less random - and he is definitely favoring my right side...just like his big brother.
Food cravings: doughnuts
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: no
Belly Button in or out? out
What I miss: a glass of wine.
What I am looking forward to: this 3 day weekend coming up and doing nothing!
Weekly Wisdom: these hormones are no joke - mine are raging...(no comment from Keith!)
Milestones: I felt him have the hiccups for the first time yesterday. Loved it.

My appointment last week went good.  Everything was just fine.  His heart rate was nice and strong - 156 bpm.  And he was moving like crazy when we were trying to listen.  I go back in 4 weeks and I'll do my sugar test and get my rhogam shot.

Weekend Trip to Kansas City

We loaded up and headed to Kansas City Friday afternoon for a work event I had to attend.  It was a regional truck/forklift championship.  It is a really fun event and a chance for employees from different branches to get together to hang out and compete.

They put everyone up in the Great Wolf Lodge.  This place was amazing.  There is an indoor water park, arcade, mini golf, restaurants, shops and countless activities for kids to do.

We had dinner at my boss's house Friday night but I don't have any pictures.  I was too busy trying to keep Sawyer from breaking everything he got his hands on.

The competition started Saturday morning at 8:30.  Everyone met in the lobby at 8:15 to head to the Kansas City Speedway where the event was held.

Heading inside.

I was one of the judges for the forklift competition.  Basically it is an obstacle course set up for the participants to go through.  Whoever has the best time with the fewest penalty points win.

And the same thing is done with the trucks.

This was one of the forklift events - they had to pick up the basketball off of a cone and then try and make a basket.

While I was judging, Keith was entertaining Saw.  There were lots of kids activities set up ~ coloring, kites, balloon twisting, magician, etc.  But Saw was a little young.

They walked around the track.  Here he is in victory lane.

They stayed out at the track for a couple of hours and then Keith took Saw back to the hotel for a nap.

The event was over around 12:30 and we had free time until dinner that night.  After Saw woke up we headed to lunch.  I think he had the most fun running around and destroying the hotel room.  And turning the TV off and on.

After lunch, we decided to check out the water park.

This was actually Sawyer's first time in a pool and he really seemed to enjoy it.  Even all the water splashing in his eyes didn't seem to bother him.

After we got our fill for the water we headed back up to the room.  We played some more and then Saw actually took another quick nap.  Then it was time for the dinner.  All of these below pictures were taken with my phone - our hands were too full to try and pull out the camera.

This is Saw running around like a wild man.

During the dinner and awards Sawyer had had enough so him and Keith found their way to the arcade.  He loved it!

After the banquet was over we all headed back to the arcade.  Sawyer loved playing skeeball.

So excited...clapping when the game was over.

Then it was bedtime -- or actually way past bedtime.

We hit the road pretty early Sunday morning.  We were all worn out and Keith had a 6:30 flight this morning.  I wasn't sure what to expect with it being a work event and just never knowing how kids will do - but we really had a good time!

25 weeks

Make that 3 days I've enjoyed being home with a sick little guy.  Well, technically I went into the office yesterday for a few hours - only to get a call from daycare because his fever was back and he was acting sad.  We went to the Dr. and an ear infection is the culprit.  But now we have meds and are hopefully on the mend.

Keith got back in town last night so he's staying home with him today.  So I can get some work done - in between my Dr. appt and Coop's vet appt. and then packing tonight for our weekend trip.

But without further ado -- here is week 25.

How far along? 25 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Heading to the Dr. in a couple of hours to find out-- I'm hoping not too much of a gain.
Stretch marks? nope
Sleep: still pretty good but I've been up some with Saw.
Best moment this week: rocking Saw and him snuggling with me and feeling little buddy moving in my tummy at the same time-- very surreal!
Movement: Yep, and I love it.
Food cravings: sweets -- but then after I eat something sweet I feel like I need something salty...
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: no
Belly Button in or out? out just a little
What I miss: not having to pee every 5 seconds.
What I am looking forward to: hearing his heart beat in just a few hours -- always a highlight!
Weekly Wisdom: write stuff down -- pregnancy brain is for real...so is mommy brain.  I can't remember anything!
Milestones: You can now see my stomach move when he is moving.

Sick days.

I started a post on Monday to share some of the nursery progress we've made and I've yet to finish it...what can I say.  It's just been one of those weeks.  Instead of blogging I've been attempting to work from home while tending to a little boy who has a cold.  I've been wiping snot, checking temperatures, and picking up tissues all while answering emails and dialing into conference calls.

But it's not all bad.  We've gone for walks, read books, played cars, high fived and he even curled up in my lap and sat still for 30 minutes Monday night.  I was in heaven!

It's all about perspective.  And so I chose to enjoy these 2 days at home even if it wasn't under the best circumstances.

And the rest of the week is just as crazy...I have a Dr. appt, Coop has a vet appt, and we are heading out of town for the weekend Friday morning.  We are headed to Kansas City for a work event.  But pictures of a few completed nursery projects are coming soon!
