Our Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fantastic 3 day weekend.  We seriously need more of those.  Something about that extra day off -- it's so nice.  We did a lot of playing around the house and a lot of good eating!  We also managed to complete our summer list and check our first thing off -- Drillers Game.

Lots of fun stuff to do this summer.  And I'm excited about all of it.  We'll be having lots of visitors for the next month or so.  All of the grandparents (minus GrandBob) are coming to visit.  I know they'll enjoy doing some of this with the boys too.

Slow mornings with french vanilla cappuccino.  There is a delicious french vanilla cappuccino K-cup you can get at Wal-Mart.  It is so good!

Finger painting outside.
Sawyer got this hat in his Easter basket.  And he decided this weekend that he liked it and pretty much didn't take it off.

We watched Daddy cut the grass and when he stopped Sawyer wanted to climb on and play.

Keith smoked some BBQ.  So delicious and it made so much we are still enjoying it!

Saw's first time eating corn on the cob.  He's always loved corn but usually wants me to cut it off for him.  But he decided he wanted to eat it like a big boy.

Homemade cheesecake for dessert.

We headed to a baseball game Sunday evening.

We pretty much could have saved our money and just went to the park.  Sawyer found a little playground they had at the stadium and didn't want to leave it.  We lured him away once with some french fries - kid loves his french fries but who can blame him?!  That lasted for about 5 minutes and then he wanted to head back to the playground.  Keith and I took turns watching him and sitting with Graham playing in our lawn seats.  I don't think either of us actually watched any baseball, but we had a blast.

Thankfully, when it was time to leave Sawyer spotted a firetruck.  That helped dry up the tears from having to leave the playground.  Firetrucks are probably his favorite thing right now.

Morning playtime.

BBQ nachos for lunch.

More outside fun which these two little boys love!

And of course we remembered the reason we were even having a 3 day weekend.  I am so thankful for those who have sacrificed so much to give us our freedom.  Sacrifices not only made by the men and women who serve our country but also their families.  Thank you isn't enough!

Graham || 9 months

Dear Graham,

You are 9 months old.  It is so much fun watching your little personality come out.  You are a pretty laid back guy and just sit back and take it all in.  You seem to really pay attention to your surroundings...taking it all in.  And with your dark hair and big blue eyes and easy smile....I'm in big, big trouble!

You aren't crawling yet but you are very close.  You can go from sitting to all fours and then back to sitting.  You will rock on all fours and go backwards but not forwards yet.  But you scoot around on your belly and can pretty much figure out how to get to whatever you want.  I know it won't be much longer but you just take your time...I'm not ready for my baby to be crawling!

You are wearing mostly 12 month clothes.  A few 9 month things still fit.  You are in size 3 diapers.  I'm not sure about your shoe size because you never wear them but you have tiny little feet right now.  But that is about all that is little about you.

We went to the Dr. for your 9 month check up. Your official stats:
Weight - 20 lbs. 7 oz. - 63 percentile
Height - 29 inches - 80 percentile
Head - 18 inches - 68 percentile

You are still nursing and you nurse in the morning and at night before bed and take 2 bottles at daycare - around 7 oz.  When you aren't at daycare you nurse 4 times a day - about every 4 hours.  You are eating baby food 3 times a day.  I'm still making most of it.  You aren't too fond of anything green but you will tolerate it, you definitely prefer fruits or anything orange -- carrots, sweet potato's, squash.  And you love puffs!

You go to bed around 7:30 and usually wake up around 7am.  You take 2 naps - mid morning and afternoon.  Although, your naps at daycare are pretty inconsistent.  You still prefer to be rocked to sleep.  Sometimes we get lucky and you'll put yourself to sleep if we lay you down awake.  But most times you start fussing and I just don't have it in me to hear my babies cry so I'll rock you until you fall asleep.

And you still love your middle two fingers.  Especially when you are tired!  It's so cute...when you get sleepy you start sucking your middle two fingers and playing with your hair.

You have 2 teeth on bottom.  And you chew on everything and drool like crazy.  We've actually already had 2 incidents at daycare with you "biting".  But we all know it is because you are teething and want to chew on everything.

You love sitting in the floor and playing with toys.  Your favorite toys are those things you shouldn't have...remotes and especially cell phones!  You love to swing.  And you really love your brother.  He makes you smile and laugh more than anyone.  And he loves you too!  Once he gets a laugh out of you, he'll keep doing whatever it is that is making you laugh over and over again.  It really is the sweetest thing!

I love you, my beautiful, sweet, 9 month old baby boy!  Lots and lots and lots and lots...

Here are some pictures of you at 9 months:

randomness & videos

Just some random little snippets.

We got a new car.  SO excited.  We've been saving our pennies and pretty much purchased our dream car.  Like if we won the lottery, this is the car we would buy.  This is the first brand new car either of us have ever had.  And it feels so good.  And smells even better!  But I think Sawyer may be the most excited.  He doesn't want to get out of the thing.  And he keeps calling it GrandBob's truck -- I guess he's confused since GrandBob has a big white truck.

My baby hit the 9 month mark this week.  The official 9 month post coming soon ~ and we have his 9 month check up this afternoon.  I can't believe "1" is only 3 months away.  Although, I do love planning parties...

We are going to be making our summer list this weekend.  Such a fun thing to do and to help us be intentional about this season.  But not much else on the agenda for the weekend....and 3 days of nothing sounds so nice.

And I'll leave you with a couple little videos.

Sawyer has just recently started to love looking through the blog books I've created the past 2 years.  He loves looking at the pictures and naming off everyone.  It makes my heart so happy to hear him call off everyone's name --  since we don't get to see them near as much as we would like.  And it gives me that extra encouragement to keep taking the time to document our stories.

And here is one of little piggy brother shoving some puffs in.  He LOVES them and can't get them in fast enough.

Happy Friday!

after bath time

Some pictures of Graham after bath.
Just because.
He's so darn cute, I can't resist.
That and the days are numbered until he's crawling away from me and my camera.
And really, is there anything better than a clean, sweet, happy baby?
I think not.

another camping adventure...

We decided to go camping last week.  We headed out Saturday morning after our swim lessons.  It's amazing all you have to pack just to go camping for 1 night.  But it a lot of fun....until bedtime, then it got interesting.  We had one baby who really wanted to go to sleep but kept getting woken up by another baby who only wanted to "go outside".  You would think after a long day of fun in the sun and no nap that Sawyer would have been pooped~wrong.  And Graham is quite the scooter when he sleeps.  We had him nestled in the bottom bunk but he kept scooting right up against the wall and waking himself up.  He ended up sleeping with Keith and Sawyer and I bunked up together which equals pretty much no sleep for anyone over the age of 2.  But overall it was lots of fun.  We enjoyed lots of playing outside, cooking hot dogs by the campfire, smores and making some great memories.

Enjoy the pictures.
