All things Halloween...

We've been doing all sorts of festive things lately....
Painted pumpkins...

pigged out on candy and cookies...

prepared for the class Halloween party.
Thank you pinterest for the idea....

carved our pumpkin...

played outside...despite the cold temps....

our yard is festive too -- thanks to all the mums Keith has planted over the last couple of years!

our finished pumpkin...Saw picked the kitty cat design.

looks better from a distance. :)

And the potty training went/is going very good.  Sawyer has done great and we are so proud of him.  He had a couple of accidents but so far it's been better than I was anticipating.  And I'm pretty sure him wearing big boy underwear is the cutest thing I've ever seen.  Seriously!

down to business

The other night the boys were being particularly rowdy and I must have told Sawyer a thousand times to stop pushing Graham, to be sweet, don't hit, don't sit on Graham, etc., etc.   It wasn't that he was being mean.  In fact, the opposite.  He really wants to play with him and just doesn't understand that Graham isn't quite as big as him.  Although, one could argue that Graham is just as tough....thanks to many days like the above.

I made the comment I was about to lose my mind.  And then I said it...something along the lines of them being older (and at the moment my thinking was if that was the case I wouldn't be so worried with Graham getting hurt).  Instantly, I regretted it.  Even before Keith so kindly reminded me that in a couple of years Sawyer would still be older, bigger, able to do things Graham may not be able to do.

And I felt guilty about it all night....because childhood is so fleeting.  These days are flying by.  And I know as they get bigger so will my worries, stresses, grocery bills, etc.  And I never want to wish away the days.  Because these days I have a 2 year who loves to sleep in our bed, whose favorite song is "the wheels on the bus", and whose favorite game is hide and seek although he has yet to master the hide -- instead he just jumps out and shouts "rah" every time I finish counting to 10.  And a 1 year that is still a little wobbly on his feet, prefers his mama to carry him and still lets me rock him at night.  And they are only this exact age for this 1 day.
It's obviously always a goal for any mom to live in the moment and enjoy each day.  But I'm making a vow to try harder....especially as we are heading into the holiday season.  It's such a magical time of year and a memory making opportunity is around every corner and I'm going to take full advantage.

I'm off to enjoy another adventure in motherhood this weekend....potty training!  Wish us luck!

I'm hoping to report back Monday with a success story!

A trip to Woolaroc

Keith parents came to visit last weekend and we had a wonderful time.  It was nice to spend time with them and Sawyer and Graham loved having them around to play with.  And they were a huge help the morning Graham got his tubes.  They stayed with Sawyer so Keith and I could both be with Graham.  And they are wonderful house, cleaning, laundry, etc. :)

Anyway, last Saturday we ventured to Woolaroc, which is about an hour away from where we live.  I had no idea what to expect but this place was awesome.  It's basically a ranch that Frank Phillips (oilman) built back in the 1920's.  It is a 3,700 acre wildlife reserve with so many types of animals to see, a petting zoo, playground, museum, lodge and much more.  We packed a picnic and spent several hours exploring and still didn't see everything.  We will definitely be back.

Um, so this kid has no fear.  He LOVED petting the animals. Quite the opposite of big brother who very much prefers to admire from a distance.

It was such a fun day.
And we hope Grandmama and Granddaddy come back very soon!

new ears...kind of

Graham got tubes this morning and a quick process is an understatement.  These people have this procedure down.  We were away from him for 15 minutes total.  Barely enough time for me to hit the restroom and scroll through my IG feed.
Graham did great.  He was a little groggy/disoriented/drunk when he woke up.  He would go between screaming and thrashing around and being super still and quiet.  But it wore off after about 30 minutes.  He dozed off on the ride home.  And once we got home he woke up and scarfed down a banana and some milk.
He's been napping for about 1.5 hours.  I'm thinking he'll be back to himself once he gets up.
I'm hopeful we've seen the last of ear infections for him.
And of course some pictures to document this experience....

Thank you God for my healthy little boy.  It's always sobering to be in a hospital/experiencing surgery, etc.  I'm so grateful our time there was short and minor!  We are so, so blessed!

Graham || 14 months

Dear Graham,

You are now 14 months old and becoming so independent.  You are such an adorable, happy little guy.  And I am a sucker for your dark hair and blue eyes!

You are walking so good and getting into everything.  You are definitely a climber (and a biter).  And you can throw a pretty good fit.  It is actually quite funny.  You will lay down and cry and thrash around if we take something from you or tell you no.  But you are also very snugly and loving!

You are one tough little brother.  Sawyer loves you so much and wants for you to be big so bad.  And he has yet to learn the concept of being gentle so you endure quite a bit of rough housing.  You guys can be so sweet one minute and literally rolling around wrestling the next.  But watching you two form a strong bond is so important to me.  My prayer is you two will be best friends and always protect each other!

You are a great eater.  You eat whatever we eat and lots of it!  Some of your favorites include: green beans, bananas, cheese crackers, graham crackers, spaghetti, cinnamon rolls and lots more.  And you love your whole milk.  You drink several cup fulls a day.  You also still nurse in the morning and night and for a few minutes a day you are transformed back into a baby!

You have 7 teeth - 4 on top and 3 on bottom.  You weigh around 23 lbs. and around 32 inches tall.  You are wearing mostly 18 month size clothes, size 3 shoes (you have little bitty feet) and size 4 diapers.

You have moved up into a new room at daycare.  And you now nap on a little cot and sit at a little table to eat.  It doesn't seem like you are big enough to do this but you were napping last week when I picked you up and seeing your little self on a cot was quite possibly the cutest thing ever!  You only take 1 nap a day - after lunch.  Sometimes on the weekend you will still take 2 naps.  It really just depends on what we have going on.

You go to bed between 7-8pm depending on what naps have been like that day.  And you wake up between 6:30-7:30am.  You are saying a few words but mostly just jibber jabber.

You love to be outside, just like your brother!  You love to play with cars, trucks and trains.  You want to do everything your big brother does and that usually means playing with whatever he is playing with.  You love to look at books.  And you love your lovey (blankie).

You've had a tough go lately with ear infections.  Sooo, you are getting tubes tomorrow.  While I am a little anxious, I am mostly just glad you will get some relief!

It is such a joy and honor to be your mommy!  I am so thankful you are healthy and thriving.  And I am so blessed you are mine!

I love you, little brother!

and day 2 of our trip...

Group picture before we all left.  We had so much fun hanging out with our friends.  And the boys all played together really good.

After we left the cabin we headed back downtown.  We drove up the mountain to the look out tower and headed up to check out the views.  And learn all about Hot Springs and Bill Clinton...since he grew up there.

Little windy....

Walking around burning off some energy before starting our drive home.

We grabbed some lunch and headed home.  It was such a nice little getaway!
