Graham || 8 months

Dear Graham,

8 months already.  And you are one smiley, drooly, happy, chunky little boy.

You got your first tooth this month.  One of your bottom middles ones just broke through a few days ago.  There was a day or two that your gums seemed to be bothering you some and you are constantly chewing on everything and drooling like crazy.

You weigh around 20 lbs now and are close to 28 inches long.  You are eating baby food three times a day.  Oatmeal or cereal in the morning and then either a fruit or veggie around lunch time and dinner time.  We've pretty much worked our way through most everything.  You definitely prefer fruits over veggies.  Although you are currently loving sweet potato's.  You aren't a fan of anything green right now but we're still working on that.  You are still nursing 4-5 times a day- about every 4 hours.  You take 2 bottles when you are at daycare ~ usually around 6-7 oz. each.

You go to bed around 7:30am and usually get up between 7am-8am.  And you are pretty much sleeping through the night.  We aren't on a great nap schedule but you tend to be pretty go with the flow.  When you get sleepy you start sucking your middle two fingers on your left hand and playing with your hair with your right hand.  It's pretty adorable.  I still rock you to sleep most of the time for your naps and at night.  Sometimes it would be nice to be able to lay you down awake and you put yourself to sleep...but I know the days of rocking you are numbered so I'm just enjoying it!

You are wearing size 3 diapers.  Mostly 9 month clothes but some 12 months already too.  Not sure about shoes since you mostly go barefoot.

You are sitting up so good and love to sit in the floor and play with toys.  Mostly chew on them.  You also immediately flip over to your belly anytime we lay you down.  You jibber jabber a lot but are still only saying dada.  But you are a momma's boy right now which I love because I'm pretty crazy about you too!

I love you more than you'll ever, ever know!

Mommy

Here are some pictures of you at 8 months:

tired baby

How adorable is this picture?!  Sweet little brother was worn out.  And he likes to sleep sucking his 2 middle fingers on his left hand and playing with his hair with his right hand.  Precious!

This week has been a busy one.  Keith has been gone and as soon as his plane touches down we are hitting the road for a major road trip and much needed vacation.  We are heading to Birmingham this afternoon - prayers are welcome for our 12 hour journey. :)  We will be doing lots of celebrating this weekend as Jon and Sarah are finally getting hitched.  So excited.  And then lots of family/friend time next week.  I can't wait to spend time with those I love most but I'm most excited about my boys getting some good quality extended family time.  It will be a little quiet here for the next week or so but there will be lots to share with I get back and recover.

Brothers...

There is so much I want to say to/about these boys but the words are hard to find.  I hope they know by my words, my actions, my ways with them that they are my whole life...my entire being.  They are such precious babies and I am in awe of them everyday, and it is such a blessing to be experiencing life as their mommy.

~Sawyer ~
 I adore this kid.
He's challenging.  He's 2.  I tell myself all the time...he's only 2...this is only a season.  But when I lay my head down at night I have to focus hard on the sweet, happy, good moments (and there are plenty) that are sprinkled throughout our day.  If not, I'm overcome with guilt about all the disciplining that took place.  It's hard.  Period.

He is really talking now and he's hysterical.  I could sit and listen to him all day.  We just discovered that he's pretty good with his colors and he can count to 14.  I was pretty impressed!  And I think sometimes I don't give myself enough credit.  I immediately thought he learned it at daycare or from watching Mickey Mouse - totally dismissing that we color all the time and read a stack of books every night before bed.

We are weaning from the paci.  We're on week 2 of leaving them in his crib and only having them at night time.  No more taking them to daycare for naps.  He whined some the first couple of days driving to school because he was used to having it in the car.  And the first few mornings he didn't want to leave it in his crib.  But he's adjusting pretty good.  Not sure when we'll get rid of it completely.  We have a trip home planned in a couple of weeks and I'm thinking maybe after we get back.  But I go back and forth.  Some days thinking it's time and some days thinking if it's just at night and he loves it and it makes him happy, why rush it...
we'll see...

We've finally found a church that we love.  Even though we've been watching our home church online, it's been so nice physically going every week.  And we are making major progress with the nursery.  Saw doesn't do well with change or strangers. But this past weekend he only cried for a second and didn't want to leave when I went to get him.  The first couple of times he cried pretty hard and they pretty much held him the entire time.  He wouldn't color or play or anything.  It is getting better each week.  And I'm so thankful.  Handing over your child as they are crying and clinging to you is gut wrentching.  But this is important.  I want to raise children that love Jesus and that grow into Godly men.

~Graham~
This baby brings me joy like no other.

Often times, when I am surrounded by mass chaos, messy rooms, wild 2 year old, barking dog, etc., I look at this guy and he starts smiling and it's like we are in a different world.  He has the ability to calm me and to remind me that what both of my boys ultimately want is just me...being present...my attention, affection and love. And snuggles pretty much make everything better.

Funny how with your first baby, you are constantly looking to the next milestone: baby food, crawling, walking, talking, etc.  But it's so different the second time around.  I now know how quickly it all passes and I find myself desperately trying to slow things down.  And you relax more the second time around and for us I think it's rubbed off on Gra too.  He's a pretty laid back little guy.

It's also funny how the dynamics with each of your children can be so different.  How you can love them equally but differently.  It's a beautiful thing.  I remember being so worried before Graham was born -- how could I possibly love another child as much as my first?  But God surely knows what he is doing.  He knows how to multiply a mommy's heart and love.  And He blessed us with the perfect little brother for us.  People say going from 1 child to 2 is the hardest transition.  And it was an adjustment for sure.  But I tend to live with rose colored glasses...twice the laughs, twice the kisses, twice the fun...you get the point. :)

~Brothers~
Watching the bond between you two form is even better than I imagined.
I'm excited for whats to come...

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter.

The boys were showered with little Easter happies all week long from all their grandparents.  We all felt so loved!
We delivered candy to school teachers and neighbors - boxed candy wrapped like a bunny.
We died Easter eggs -- most ended up broken.  But it was a blast, none the less.
We got all dolled up for the Easter service at church.  The boys looked so stinking precious - smocked button ons and knee sock....doesn't get more Southern than that!  Saw wasn't a fan though - he kept trying to put his Toms on.  Ha.
We made resurrections rolls - and ate too many marshmellows.
The Easter Bunny paid a visit.
We wrapped up with a backyard Easter egg hunt, which Sawyer loved.
But most importantly, we celebrated that He lives.  Thank you Jesus!

All documented below.

Blooms...

We had a wonderful Easter.  And I'll be sharing pictures just as soon as I can.

We are loving the spring weather and being outside.  And our yard is coming along nicely -- thanks to Keith!  My favorite tree is blooming and our tulips are so pretty that I had to share.

Be back soon to share our Easter festivities...
