Summer night...

So, that unintentional blog break was brought to you courtesy of 3 things: summer, Downton Abbey, and the age of 3.

1. Even though we don't get a typical summer break things just still seem more relaxed.  We spend most of our evenings and weekends outside soaking up all the daylight we can and have gotten a little more lax on bedtime.  So that hasn't left much time for me to be in front of the computer.

2. We started watching Downton Abbey and I'm hooked.  We don't watch much tv but I've been wanting to start some type of series.  Well, now every night after the boys are in bed all I want to do is watch this show.

3.  The "terrible two's" weren't so bad around our house.  But, the "terrible three's" may kill us. ;)  This too shall pass, right?!

Last Saturday night we headed to the park and to get some shaved ice.  Last minute I grabbed my camera and I'm SO glad I did.  I seriously got some of the sweetest pictures of my little brother boys!!

My heart EXPLODED when I captured this hug.  We are usually witnessing more shoving than hugging so this was super sweet!

This hand holding was requested but the fact that they actually did it and did it nicely is practically a miracle!  And I'm totally in love with this shot.  Their little strides are even identical.

Love the JOY on their faces.

Mr. Independant insisted on doing it himself.  Thank God for stain remover. ;)

It was a perfect summer night!

Raising boys

Raising my boys is a privilege.  A blessing.  My greatest joy.  My most important job.

It's also really hard.
In all possible ways...physically, mentally and emotionally.
I know they don't realize all that goes into making their little world spin happily.  But one day they will.  One day when they are daddies and rocking their babies in the middle of the night, or reading just one more book, or putting band aids on and kissing imaginary boo boos.  All in the name of love.
They will realize then that lots and lots of little moments create happiness.  Where you remember feeling loved and safe and having fun.

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" 2 Corinthians 4:18

In spite of all the hard moments, moments where I am most thankful for the grace of God, there is so much good with these two.  So much good.

I always wanted a son.  When I was pregnant with Sawyer, I really wanted a boy.  And now I'm raising two.  Sometimes I still can't believe it.  I've learned things having these boys that I never would have otherwise.

I never knew how fun building tracks and playing choo choo's could be.  Or how exciting it could be to point out every kind of tractor as we drive down the road.  Or how hilarious it would be when your 3 year old learns to tee tee in a bush.  And your 1 year old mimics him.

I've also learned that I am going to get grey hair sooner rather than later. ;)

To my boys:
I hope you are always as fearless and brave as you are right now.

Nonnie & Popsy visit

We had a great rest of the weekend with Nonnie & Popsy.  We spent lots of time playing, relaxing and Keith and I even got a date night to celebrate my birthday.  Sunday also happened to be Popsy's birthday and we loved being able to celebrate with him.

Birthday pancakes for Popsy.

An attempt at a picture after church....best we could manage.

Flying toy airplanes.

We tie dyed shirts.

And ended the weekend with birthday cake.

and celebrating Popsy.

Such a great weekend.

Chuck E cheese fun

My Dad and Kathy were visiting last weekend and we had a blast with them.  We headed to Chuck E Cheese last Friday and had so much fun.  This was only the second time we've taken the boys and they loved it.
